The most important city in the Umbrian Valley
Foligno, which has always been an important commercial centre and major crossroads, is also a city of historical and artistic interest. Today, the old city wall still surrounds the noble medieval palaces and churches, such as Palazzo Trinci, home of the Art Gallery, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of the Municipal Institution, and the multimedia Museum of Tournaments and Games. The Cathedral, dedicated to San Feliciano, the patron saint of Foligno, looks out onto Piazza Grande square, and the Municipal Hall dating back to the thirteenth century with its crenellated tower watches over the city streets.
