Umbria is not bathed by the sea but is a region rich in water, between springs, waterways and lakes. The lake district of Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy, is one of the most characteristic and well-known of Umbria, as well as one of the most appreciated by cycle tourists, who can decide to pedal on the plains along its banks or climb the hills that surround it, admiring its three islands from above and, if the time is right, unforgettable sunsets.

Ancient fishing villages alternate with small beaches and tourist places, scenic spots of great charm are added to the beauties of the most important villages, such as Castiglione del Lago, Passignano, Tuoro and Magione.

A soft, romantic landscape, ideal for cycling through to discover its countless facets. You can pedal along its banks, effortlessly, closely observing the fishermen and then stop for lunch in a small restaurant, overlooking the lake, to enjoy a plate of fresh fish or the typical testo cake. Or go up the hill, reaching the medieval villages of Panicale, Paciano and Città della Pieve, to visit these enchanting centers and discover some of the most beautiful scenic spots in Umbria.

Itinerary

Day 1 :

Arrival in Passignano sul Trasimeno independently.
In the early afternoon, departure for a mini-cruise to Isola Maggiore, one of the three islands of the lake, the only one inhabited. It hosted St. Francis during an entire Lent. The small village is made up of a single entirely paved road along which the houses of the thirteenth and fourteenth century overlook. Dinner and overnight stay in Passignano sul Trasimeno

Day 2 :

The day will be spent entirely by bicycle. Departure in the morning from Passignano sul Trasimeno towards Castiglione del Lago. The route runs along the lake on an unpaved dirt road, turning into a pleasant cycle / pedestrian itinerary on gravel and pressed earth, with numerous pedestrian bridges and picnic areas. The scenery of the reeds and the ease with which you will be able to see wild birdlife in this stretch deserves numerous stops that allow you to wander with your gaze on the lake.
We will make a brief stop at Campo del Sole and on the banks of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, the scene of the "battle of Trasimeno", which took place on 24 June 217 BC, in which Hannibal's Carthaginian army defeated the Roman army. Packed lunch. Return by bike. Dinner and overnight stay in Passignano sul Trasimeno

Day 3 :

In the morning, before returning to your destination, you will visit a winery with a tasting.
