DAY 2 - PERUGIA - ASSISI
After breakfast, we suggest a visit of Perugia to start from St. Peter's Basilica, in Borgo XX Giugno district. It was founded in the tenth century and was the first bishopric Perugia. Two are the main sights of this Abbey, one is a painting, unknown to most people and summarily dismissed by guide books. It represents the triumph of the Benedictine Order, and depicts saints, popes, cardinals, bishops and abbots founders of related Orders that surround St. Benedict of Norcia. It has the distinction of being the largest canvas in the world occupying the top of the entrance wall of the church interior. The best place to observe it is towards the main altar. If we focus the attention of St. Benedict and the two patches of sky in which you see the sun and the moon in their place appears a disturbing figure, demonic. The other curiosity is the Botanical Gardens Medieval, in the old fish market of the Monastery.
The walk continues through the historic center of Perugia
