Arrival in Perugia and accommodation in the hotel.

1st DAY

Arrival in the afternoon in the area of Lake Trasimeno. Thanks to the Terre del Perugino card, you will have the opportunity to discover some of the little gems of Lake Trasimeno. Panicale, walk in the village and visit of the museum circuit which includes: the Church of San Sebastiano, where the famous fresco of the “Martyrdom of San Sebastiano” by Perugino is kept, the historic Teatro Caporali, with an eighteenth-century structure, the Palazzo del Podestà and the Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo. You will be accompanied on a visit to a local cellar with a wine tasting with a small snack.

2nd DAY

Departure from Passignano Sul Trasimeno with the motor ship for Isola Maggiore, the only inhabited area that still retains the appearance of the fifteenth-century village created by fishermen. Guided tour of the island’s museum circuit which includes the Lace Museum, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo and the Documentation Center of Isola Maggiore.

Return to the mainland in the afternoon and aperitif in the cellar.

After breakfast, on returning to one’s destination, a walk through Città della Pieve. Suggestive medieval town, birthplace of Pietro Vannucci known as Perugino.

1st day

Arrival in the early afternoon. Deruta, the city par excellence of artistic majolica, among the most appreciated and known in the world. The “Raphaelesque” decoration characterizes all the production: they are fast interweaving of leaves, birds and other animals with Moorish motifs, and the prevailing colors of this type of ceramic are intense cobalt blue and yellow on white enamel which embellishes the whole. Particularly in the former convent of San Francesco, it is worth visiting the Regional Museum of Ceramics, which documents centuries of this activity.
Followed by a visit to an artisan workshop.

2nd day

After breakfast moving to Gubbio.
The fame of Gubbio ceramics is linked to the name of Mastro Giorgio, whose original majolica with ruby and pale gold reflections are still today the object of study by artists from all over the world. This type of processing is accompanied by the processing of the famous black and shiny vases called buccheri, which repeat the shapes and friezes of the very ancient original Etruscan models.

In the afternoon we move to Gualdo Tadino, a place where the production of ceramics had already started in the distant fourteenth century and which saw a rediscovery at the end of the nineteenth century by Paolo Rubboli of the ruby gold luster, according to the Arab formula described by Cipriano Piccolpasso, a renewed artistic season opens for Gualdo ceramics. 3rd day

After breakfast, the journey to Orvieto ends. Over the centuries, traces of the ancient activity had been lost, until the beginning of the twentieth century, when the rediscovery of finds dating back to the Middle Ages reawakened the impulse to a rich and flourishing production.
The Orvieto Carta Unica will be made available for visiting the main monuments.

Egidio Albornoz was a Spanish cardinal, politician and leader who came to Italy around the second half of the 1300s at the behest of Pope Innocent VI who, at that time, was in Avignon, with the aim of consolidating the power of the Papal state. The Cardinal took care of reconquering large territories in central Italy by implementing a policy of control thanks also to the “Rocche” starting from Orvieto.

He had numerous fortifications built which had the purpose, not only of reinforcing the Papal State at a military level, but above all allowed control of communication routes and the population.

Our tour crosses all of Umbria to discover the Albornozian Fortresses of Orvieto, Narni, Spoleto and Assisi.

1st day

Arrival in the afternoon in Orvieto. Withdrawal of the Orvieto Carta Unica which gives access to the main monuments of the city. Walk through the acropolis of the tuffaceous city, with entrance to the Cathedral of Maitani and the stupendous Cappella San Brizio, the Pozzo di San Patrizio and the gardens of the Fortress from which you can see some remains of the suggestive towers and admire a beautiful panorama of the whole valley.

2nd day

After breakfast we continue in the direction of Spoleto and its fortress: it is certainly one of the most representative monuments of the city. Located on the Sant’Elia hill, the fortress overlooks the Monteluco wood which joins the monumental Aqueduct Bridge of the Towers. Entrance to the Rocca and free walk to follow.

In the afternoon transfer to Assisi where the route starts from the Rocca Maggiore which occupies the summit of Mount Subasio (which can only be visited from the outside). From here, thanks to its position, you can enjoy a splendid panorama. We will continue with the free walk through the city of San Francesco.

After leaving the structure, on returning to your destination, the last visit of our itinerary will be made to the fortress that overlooks Narni. Entrance to the Rocca and continue with a visit to the underground passage of Narni Sotterranea.
